A smoulder point is the temperature at which something catches fire without a visible flame. No spark. No ignition source. Just enough heat, sustained long enough, that the material transforms from the inside.
That's what violence against women and girls does.
And that's what resistance looks like too.
For victims and survivors of sexual assault, coercive control, and domestic violence. For those exiting sex work or sexual exploitation. For people rebuilding agency, confidence, and economic independence after systems designed to protect them failed.
Literacy services. Bystander training. Skills development for people with convictions. Training for professionals, police, judiciary, and the organisations that support survivors. Because the gaps in understanding are as dangerous as the violence itself.
Art as an integral part of expression, healing, and agency. Not an afterthought. A core method. Because reclaiming a voice sometimes starts before words.
Violence against women and girls doesn't happen in a vacuum and it can't be addressed in one. We work with survivors, families, communities, and men. Not as an afterthought. As a necessity.
You cannot dismantle a system that operates through relationships without involving everyone in those relationships.
Not advises. Not consults. Leads. The people closest to the problem are closest to the solution. Not because suffering confers expertise, but because surviving a system teaches you exactly where it breaks.
Violence strips agency. Any response that also strips agency, however well-meaning, is replicating the pattern it claims to address.
